Eugene R. (Gene) Tempel became executive director of the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University on August 1, 1997. He is recognized internationally as an expert in the study and practice of philanthropy and nonprofit management.

Dr. Tempel's career as a nonprofit professional also includes more than two decades of administration and fundraising, and as a professor of philanthropic studies. He previously served as vice chancellor of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and as vice president of the Indiana University Foundation.

Dr. Tempel is the author and co-author of several works in the field, including the book Fund Raisers: Their Careers, Stories, Concerns and Accomplishments (Jossey Bass, 1996) with Margaret A. Duronio. He is editor of Hank Rosso's Achieving Excellence in Fund Raising, 2nd Edition. He earned a B.A. degree in English and philosophy from St. Benedict College, an M.A. in English, and a doctoral degree in higher education administration from Indiana University and holds Certified Fund Raising Professional designation.

Pam McDonald selected for Leadership NH Class of '09

CONFR’s Executive Director Pam McDonald was one of 38 individuals selected for the Leadership New Hampshire Class of 2009. Leadership New Hampshire is a nonprofit organization which trains and builds a network of knowledgeable and engaged leaders for the state of New Hampshire. Pam also is a graduate of Leadership Greater Concord Class of 2001.
