CONFR announced the recipients of the 9th Annual Make a Difference Donor Awards at the March 28th conference. These awards recognize individuals or organizations whose contributions of time, talent or treasure have made a transformational difference to a nonprofit organization in New Hampshire. This year’s award winners are:
"Accepting for Nancy and Bill Dailey are: Cathy Bentwood and Kim Giles of Bridge House with Make a Difference Donor Chair Celina Hurley"
"Accepting for White Dragon are: Vinnie Baiocchetti and Keliane Totten, Director of Development and Public Relations with Make a Difference Donor Chair Celina Hurley" Bill and Nancy Dailey first became involved with Bridge House by donating an auction item for a fundraising dinner event in 2000. Shortly afterwards, the Daileys contributed a gift that remains the largest private donation made to the Bridge House. A year later, the couple continued their generosity by underwriting a sixty-day challenge grant. Bill serves on the Board of Directors and Nancy volunteers her time and energy on a daily basis. The couple provided hours of sweat equity in the building of the new Bridge House, which opened its doors in the summer of 2005. The couple continues to support the organization’s creation of a childcare center for Bridge House families as well as increasing awareness of homelessness. For nearly two decades, White Dragon Martial Arts of New Hampshire has been hosting a "Kick the Cancer" martial arts tournament that benefits the Hospice Program of Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association. Motivated by personal experiences with family members battling cancer and receiving support from hospice care, the Grandmaster of White Dragon Federation, Georganne Verigan, organizes this annual event held at the Gilmanton School. Working with community businesses and supporters, costs are minimized through tournament donations ranging from food to t-shirts to printing programs. With over 400 people participating in or watching the tournament, "Kick the Cancer" has raised more than $60,000 for hospice programs in New Hampshire. |
